Puno (e-mail)
So we haven´t actually seen Lake Titicaca yet because we arrived after dark, but our hostel is within easy walking distance. For those of you following along at home, we´re staying two nights in Puno, a little port city on the shore of the Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world (3800 meters >above sea level). So far, we bought bus tickets to La Paz leaving first thing on the 27th and took a wild ride in a mototaxi (imagine a big, motorized tricycle) to the hostel, which has hot water and breakfast. Mmmm. Speaking of, Em and I just got a veggie fix at a vegetarian restaurant in the center of town. We had whole wheat bread with homemade nut butter (not sure which nut), delicious soup, salad with avacado, sautéed veggies with breaded faux meat, and then yogurt with cereal for desert. Oh, and fresh pineapple juice. The meal was a "splurge" at $5 each.
