If you fail once
Try again!
Apparently, a few years back, the administration of the institute was concerned, annoyed, or otherwise cared that too many students were failing English. Hmmm, they thought, how can we remedy this problem? I know! If they fail the final exams, let's give them another go! Everyone cheered at this brilliant proposal. And thus was born one of the 7 wonders of academic stupidity: retakes of the final exams. That's right, if you failed them, no big deal -- here, try again. And thus died the meaning of the word final.
Imagine how maddening it is to watch students get another opportunity to pass final exams that they've already seen when you never once saw those guys bring a notebook to class. They should fail. But I live in a land where the stricter the rule, the more you have to lie and/or beg, and where an educational institution loosens the rules rather than expecting students go to class, study, and learn. Maybe education in the States is like this, too, but I've never seen it from the teacher's perspective. It's crazy making.
What are the other 6 wonders?
